Welcome to the Hardap Region

Stretching the width of the country of Namibia, the Hardap Region is situated in the southern parts of the country, with only the Karas Region further south and bordering South Africa. It has the Atlantic Ocean on its Western border while the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, between Botswana and South Africa, lies in the eastern border. The northwest border is the Erongo Region, while in the north and northeast are the Khomas and Omaheke Regions respectively.

The capital of the Hardap Region can be found at Mariental. This is also where the all important Hardap Dam and Recreational Park can be found. The Fish River, which flow south through the country flows from the Hardap Dam and Joins the mighty Orange River in South Africa, after passing through one of Namibia's Natural Wonder's, The Fish River Canyon.

Although not as popular for tourist as the coastal region of the Erongo Region, the Hardap Region does offer much for any visitor in the form of leisure activities. The Hardap Recreational Park offers excellent overnight accommodation, with plenty of water-sport activities for visitors to enjoy, while in the west, the Naukluft Mountain Zebra Park and Namibr Nature Reserve offer plenty of wildlife view.

Tismaree Guest Farm - Accommodation

The accommodation, which consists of five double chalets and a four-man dorm, is kept small and simple, enabling Henry to pay attention to his guests.

Tismaree Guest Farm was built from scratch by Henry and Mary-Anne Tise on a piece of land previously owned by Mary-Anne’s parents. An SME enterprise, the farm caters mostly for locals, but visitors have also had the opportunity to experience the Tise’s hospitality.

\"I’ve had such a great time with my Danish visitors, sitting on a bench at the lookout point and enjoying a cold beer.\",says Henry. \"They were amazed by the peace and quiet of the area and the magnificent views over the surrounding koppies.”

Tismaree is situated on one of these koppies. In fact, views are amazing from wherever you are on the property.
